"Nearly 6.2 million students in the United States between the ages of 16 and 24 dropped out of high school in 2007. We have a moral obligation to demand better. However with this demand comes recognition and responsibility. We must first be honest and recognize that the very system that continually fails millions of student across the country, also fails our nation’s educators. In order to impact this crisis we must understand that the responsibility to learn is not solely left upon the shoulders of our nation’s youth. We move forward when we realize that it is everyone’s responsibility including educators, communities, and policy makers to learn and grow from our shortcomings. Incremental change is neither sustainable nor acceptable. True reform must be strategic, broad, and coupled with supports to properly implement a vision for change. The EGC framework provides a system of support that addresses the symptomatic causes of the nation’s dropout crisis. This framework is complex, and implementation will not be easy; however, often times, the most worthy initiatives are also the most difficult ones. The time to rise to this challenge is now."

"No single program is the “silver bullet” to successfully transform a low-performing school. In order to effectively address the symptomatic barriers to student success, the responsibility for change must be engrained within the foundation of an entire school community, coupled with wrap-around supports to implement multiple strategies of reform and successfully create substantial and far-reaching improvements."

Fail.
"Are you tired or something?"
"No, just stressed."
"You know what you get when you spell stressed backwards?"
"What?"
"Desserts!"
